Comments on 2 Nephi 29 This chapter is a lengthy rebuke by the Lord aimed at the Gentiles for rejecting His word. The general premise is that the Gentiles are grossly arrogant in receiving the gospel. They largely reject natural Israel, even though the redemption of natural Israel is the purpose the gospel was brought to them in the first place. v1-2 parallel 28:1-2 in subject. The revelation of the book is intended to a means of gathering natural Israel in general (v. 1) and the Lehites in specific (v. 2). v3-6 The Lord condemns the Gentiles for clinging to the Bible and rejecting any other revelation. v7-14 The Lord points out the Jews are just one of the nations under the covenant, and that He commands all of his covenant people to write His words to them (v. 7-11). This necessarily requires additional revelation. In the last days, just as Israel will be gathered to her promised lands, so will the word of the Lord be gathered, and all of Israel will see all of His revelations to them (v. 12-14). v12-14 Compare 30:15-18.
