Comments on Acts 26 v8 This verse is addressing the Jews, who he is accused of from the end of the preceding verse. Paul's comment is aimed at the fact that the Jewish Scriptures advocate the raising of the dead as did both Elijah and Elisha raise from the dead, as well as does Ezekiel talk about the resurrection from the dead. v29 is an obtuse translation in the KJV. The New American Standard (NAS) reads: And Paul said, "I would to God, that whether in a short time or a long time, not only you, but also all who hear me this day, might become such as I am, except for these chains."
