Comments on Revelation 20 v1-6 Satan is bound for the Millennium, presumably both by the Priesthood as v. 1 suggests, and by the righteousness of the survivors and their posterity similar to the people of 4. Ne. v2 "the dragon, that old serpent", cp. Gen. 3:14, Isa. 27:1, 1 Ne. 20:2. v4 Those that avoid the mark of the beast (cf. 13:16, 14:9) are the righteous who survive the Day of the Lord and their posterity. v5 Compare D&C 88:100-101. v6 "blessed and holy is he that hath part", the IV/JST emends this to "blessed and holy are they who hath part" making it gender inclusive. v7-10 Satan is freed after the Millennium, but ultimately doomed, cp. D&C 88:111-115. Another huge polarizing conflict arises with heaven interceding and annihilating the wicked by fire. The figures of Gog and Magog are derived from Ezek. 38. v11-15 Judgement at the throne of God. Yet another phase of Judgement. We refer to "Final Judgement" as the Day of the Lord, but in reality it isn't Final Judgment. This one is the very last Final Judgement of them all when the temporal aspect of the earth's existence ends. I suppose the title "Final Judgement" is somewhat relative to the dispensation as something "final" to us, like the Day of the Lord, is the beginning of the Millennium. Copyright © 2001 by S.
