Comments on 2 Chronicles 17 v1-9 Unlike his predecessors, Jehoshaphat worships the Lord, reestablishes Judah's political status, and reinstitutes religion. v4 The priestly authors of this book are showing their bias against Israel here. v10-19 With religion back in Judah and Jerusalem, she returns to her former glory and becomes a nation to be reckoned with. Here it is clear the author's intent is to show that religion brings about civil order which results in social stability and political power. This would be in sharp contrast to the events of 1 Ki. 14:21-28. Copyright © 2002 by S. Kurt Neumiller . All rights reserved.
