General Comments on Hosea 4-13 These chapters appear to be a series of discreet sermons collected together in no particular order, at least not any that I can determine upon casual inspection. Perhaps they are simply chronological in the order Hosea delivered them, who knows? Chapter 12 was skipped for the lesson outline and that is not surprising. The chapter contains some obscure symbolism that seems to be comparing the original patriarch Jacob to the present nation Israel. They are difficult passages that have baffled scholars for a long time and will no doubt continue to do so. Copyright © 2002 by S. Kurt Neumiller . All rights reserved.
